Croft Chaos and Glory: Ingram Dominates, Rowbottom Charges, Sutton Stuns in Triple Thriller

The mid-season break came to a close as the BTCC roared back into life under sunny Yorkshire skies at Croft. Friday’s action-packed practice sessions set the tone, with dramatic offs for Tom Chilton and James Dorlin at Turn 1, while Jake Hill was forced to withdraw from the weekend after FP1 due to an ear infection. In a surprise twist, four-time champion and ‘King of Croft’ Colin Turkington made his return, stepping into the Laser Tools Racing BMW during FP2. With the stage set and the drama already unfolding, all eyes turned to a highly anticipated Sunday race day.

BTCC Croft Race 1 Report – Ingram Clinches Commanding Win on Return to Action

The BTCC returned with a bang at Croft as Tom Ingram stormed to victory in Race 1, marking the perfect start to the second half of the 2025 season. Under brilliant sunshine in North Yorkshire, Ingram delivered a flawless performance, leading from lights to flag and fending off pressure from NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Cammish to claim the win.

The EXCELR8 driver made a clean getaway from pole and never looked back, maintaining composure through a mid-race safety car period after Chris Smiley spun into the gravel at Clervaux. Cammish pushed hard in the opening laps, narrowing the gap to Ingram, but once the race settled back into rhythm, Ingram stretched his lead and brought it home with confidence—moving him back into the championship lead after rival Ash Sutton suffered a puncture and was forced to pit.

Behind the leading duo, Senna Proctor was the man on the move. Starting eighth on the grid, he made a blistering start and climbed to third by the end of lap one. From there, he held his own under pressure and secured a hard-earned podium on home soil.

Daniel Rowbottom was next across the line in fourth, fending off Team VERTU’s Tom Chilton, who had endured a dramatic FP1 crash just 24 hours earlier. Daryl DeLeon added another chapter to his breakthrough season with a mature and composed drive to sixth place. Celebrating his 20th birthday on Sunday, DeLeon climbed through the field from tenth on the grid, going wheel-to-wheel with WSR stablemate Charles Rainford in one of the race’s more spirited scraps.

Árón Taylor-Smith brought his car home in seventh ahead of Rainford, with Dan Lloyd and Adam Morgan rounding out the top 10.

With the championship battle heating up, and Ingram now in front, the weekend was already shaping up to deliver more drama across the remaining two races.

BTCC Croft Race 2 Report – Rowbottom Powers to Third Win of 2025

Daniel Rowbottom continued his strong 2025 campaign with an assertive victory in Race 2 at Croft, claiming his third win of the season in commanding fashion for NAPA Racing UK.

Starting from fourth on the grid and equipped with the faster tyre compound, Rowbottom wasted no time carving through the field. With the Race 1 front-runners forced onto the hard tyre for the second contest, the balance swung in Rowbottom’s favour early on. He made quick work of both Senna Proctor and Dan Cammish in the opening laps before closing in on pole-sitter Tom Ingram.

Ingram, who didn’t put up a fight, appeared to prioritise tyre and race management as he allowed both Rowbottom and Team VERTU’s Tom Chilton through. Chilton looked poised to challenge for the lead in the mid-phase of the race, keeping Rowbottom honest before the NAPA driver gradually edged away to build a gap and seal the win.

Behind them, it was another standout performance from Daryl DeLeon. Building on his impressive sixth-place finish in Race 1, the WSR BMW driver climbed the order to secure his second BTCC career podium with a solid third-place finish.

Adam Morgan brought his Team VERTU BMW home in fourth, while Ash Sutton produced one of the drives of the day. After starting at the back following his Race 1 puncture, Sutton scythed through the pack in the opening laps and continued to pick off rivals throughout the race, eventually finishing an impressive fifth.

Charles Rainford and Gordon Shedden claimed sixth and seventh respectively, while Ingram, struggling on the harder compound, had to settle for eighth. Aiden Moffat crossed the line in ninth and added to the drama post-race by drawing reverse grid pole for Race 3. Cammish rounded out the top ten, a few positions lower than expected after a strong Race 1 showing.

BTCC Croft Race 3 Report – Sutton Slides to Sensational Victory in Thrilling Finale

Ash Sutton delivered a breathtaking performance to win Race 3 at Croft in what will go down as one of the most electrifying BTCC races in recent memory.

Chaos erupted right from the lights as pole-sitter Aiden Moffat came under immediate pressure from VERTU’s Tom Ingram. The two made contact heading into the opening lap, with Ingram momentarily taking the lead before a spectacular save allowed Moffat to dive back through into P1. As the field jostled behind, cars were running two and even three wide in a frenzied battle for position.

But the drama only intensified. Midway through the opening laps, Charles Rainford tagged Dan Cammish, sending the NAPA Racing UK Ford sliding across the grass at Complex. Cammish rejoined the track unsighted and unfortunately collected both Daryl DeLeon and Chris Smiley, forcing the deployment of the safety car.

Once racing resumed, Ingram continued his charge, making a move around Sutton and once again challenging Moffat for the lead. The trio were soon joined by Gordon Shedden, who inserted himself into what became a four-way brawl for victory.

Then came a moment of BTCC magic. As the restarted, Sutton — running third — encountered slight contact with Shedden at the hairpin. Rather than backing out, Sutton held an epic slide around the inside, then tucked inside both Ingram and Moffat to sensationally snatch the lead in one of the boldest overtakes Croft has ever seen.

Senna Proctor wasn’t far behind and battled hard with Ingram for second, but the latter held firm to secure runner-up behind Sutton, while Proctor claimed his second third-place finish of the day — capping off a hugely successful weekend for the Team Bristol Street Motors driver.
