Dawson & Jewiss Seal British GT Success at Donington Park
Donington Park kicked off the 2025 British GT Championship season, delivering exciting racing at one of the UK’s most iconic circuits. With a competitive field across GT3 and GT4 classes, the two‑hour endurance encounter produced drama and strategic intrigue.
From the outset, the battle in the GT3 category was tightly contested. Pole position for the race was converted into a strong early advantage by Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, driving the #42 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes‑AMG GT3 Evo. Building on a solid qualifying performance alongside fast rivals, they led the field into the first corners and set the pace in the opening stint.
Chasing them relentlessly were Barwell Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, with the experienced duo of Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell providing the pressure. A close first hour saw Martin and Mitchell display good pace, keeping within striking distance of the leaders.

Shifting Conditions & Strategic Plays
As the race matured, changing weather and track conditions brought additional complexity. A mid‑race safety car period and mixed grip levels played into teams’ strategic planning, particularly around the mandatory pit window and driver changes. Jewiss took over from Dawson with the car still in strong contention, while other rivals battled through traffic and evolving conditions.
Despite mounting pressure from the Barwell pair, whose consistent pace kept them in the fight throughout, Dawson and Jewiss managed their strategy meticulously. Their measured approach meant they maintained clear track position at crucial phases of the race and stayed ahead of challengers as the final laps approached.

GT4 Action
The supporting GT4 category was equally compelling, with Marc Warren and Jack Brown in the Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 continuing their strong form under pressure.
Pushing hard in GT4 were the Mahiki Racing Ginetta and the Century Motorsport BMW M4, both of which provided entertaining battles throughout the field and ensured that every class position was fiercely contested.

Closing Thoughts
As the dust settles on the opening round of the season, it’s clear that both the GT3 and GT4 grids are in for a tightly contested campaign, with teams and drivers already looking ahead to the next round. Donington Park has set the bar high, and the championship is shaping up to be an exciting one to follow.
