The British Touring Car Championship made its annual trip to the flatlands of Norfolk and the Snetterton 300 circuit, where a mixture of close racing, dramatic incidents and some outstanding drives kept the crowds entertained throughout the weekend. Cammish Controls Race One
Dan Cammish led the field into the opening corner for Race One, but it was Jake Hill who suffered the first major setback when he was nudged into a spin on the opening lap. Pearson was later handed a drive-through penalty, while Max Hall out-braked himself into the chicane and collected Gordon Shedden in the process.
Nick Halstead was also forced to pit when his door came loose, adding to an increasingly eventful opening race. At the front, however, Cammish remained composed and steadily pulled clear of the chasing pack. Tom Ingram settled into second, while Ash Sutton was involved in a battle for the final podium position.
Cammish eventually crossed the line to take a comfortable victory, with Ingram finishing second and Sutton completing the podium. Sutton Strikes in Race Two
Cammish once again led the grid away for Race Two, but this time he was unable to hold the lead for long. By Turn Three, Ash Sutton had charged through to take first place, with all three of the leading drivers starting the race on the hard tyre.
Behind them, Ingram suffered a huge moment at Turn One and collected the barrier, damaging his suspension and dropping him out of contention. Mikey Doble then had his own dramatic moment as he approached Brundle Corner at the end of the Hamilton Straight, running off the circuit before managing to rejoin and continue with no apparent major damage.
At the front, Dan Lloyd briefly took the lead before Adam Morgan came charging through a lap later, dropping Lloyd to third. Morgan began the final lap with Rowbottom ahead and a one-lap boost advantage, but Rowbottom held on to the lead all the way to the chequered flag.
Morgan took second, while Tom Chilton completed the podium in third, flashing his headlights as he crossed the line.
Doble Takes the Glory Race Three would provide the biggest story of the weekend as Mikey Doble made a sensational start and immediately disappeared into the distance while the rest of the field fought through the opening corners.
Ash Sutton was on another charge, climbing from 10th to fourth on the opening lap, while Tom Ingram produced one of the drives of the weekend by moving from 25th on the grid to 13th in just the opening lap.
The safety car was soon deployed after Stephen Jelley went off into the barriers, bunching the field back together. When the lights went green, Doble once again made the perfect restart and maintained his advantage as the race was extended to 15 laps.
Sutton continued his recovery drive and made his move on Cook into Brundle Corner at the end of the high-speed Bentley Straight. Further back, Cammish and Pearson also became involved in an incident at the same corner as the pressure continued to build throughout the field.
Out front, however, Doble remained in control. The Power Maxed Racing driver brought his Vauxhall across the finish line to claim his first outright BTCC victory, with Sutton taking second and Cook completing the podium. Ingram rounded off an impressive recovery with fourth place, having started from the back of the grid in 25th.
It was a hugely significant result for Doble and Power Maxed Racing, with the team celebrating in the pits after finally securing its first outright BTCC victory. Snetterton had delivered three very different races, but it was Doble who left Norfolk with the biggest result of the weekend.
