In an exclusive interview with Pitlane-News, I had the opportunity to sit down with Colin Queen, a rising star in the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series. At just 20 years old, Colin has already made a significant impact in motorsports, transitioning from a successful open-wheel career to the world of GT racing with ANSA Motorsports. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a premier one-make racing series organized by Lamborghini Squadra Corse. It features identical Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo and Evo2 race cars, offering a platform for both professional and amateur drivers to compete globally.

Pitlane-News: "Colin, what first got you hooked on racing, and how did that passion lead you to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series?"

Colin Queen:
"It's quite a boring story to be honest. My parents were massive motorsport fans. Well, they still are. There have always been massive motorsports fans their whole lives, and ever since I was a baby, they put me down in front of the TV, let me watch all the racing—literally everything, you know, touring cars, IndyCar, F1, literally, you name it, I watched it. I just grew such a love for it."

"On my seventh birthday, my dad took me out to Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, California, for a little track day and a go-kart, and I just absolutely fell in love with it."

"And we didn't go back. That's pretty much how everything began. I started at the local level in California and regional for the first year or two, then stepped up to the national championship like SKUSA and Rotax and then went to the international stage. First in 2014, which I believe really set everything up, was the world finals. The ROK Cup World Superfinals in Italy really just gave some amazing perspective on what motor racing is all about and what I need to do to really make it."

"And, you know, I did a lot of years over in the States. Then, in 2018, I raced in Europe for almost the entire season, and the WKA selected me to represent the United States in the CIK Academy Trophy series."

"In 2020, I started doing a little bit of car racing testing, really because of COVID, and then in 2021, we were recommended by a good friend of ours to go over to England and race Formula Ford. I did that for two years. The second year really, really showed my skills, had some great successes, and won a £20,000 scholarship to run in GB4 for the following season."

"I did well in GB4. I thought further about the championship and 10 podiums and then felt like I was ready for GB3. Did a season of that, got to the crossroads of choice, you know, do we continue this path down the single-seater route or go something more stable? Something that's a lot better for a career, and, you know, that's GT racing. I was sent up with the ANSA Motorsports and Super Trofeo Championship. We were considering a couple of other series, but this just felt like the right fit at the time. The United States brings so much opportunity for an American like me. To really run in a championship like this is absolutely incredible. I think it was the best step I could have made."

Pitlane-News: "Okay, so every driver has their own unique path. What's been the most defining moment in your journey as a professional racer so far?"

Colin: "I hit that point in 2014 when I went to the world finals for the ROK Cup. But the most defining moment, I would say, was that second season in Formula Ford. I think something really clicked that season that, you know, I felt like I could really make it as a professional racing driver."

Pitlane-News: "It wasn't a hobby; it was a career?"

Colin: "It's a career, yes, 100%."

Pitlane-News: "So, for those who might not know you yet, how would you describe your driving style and your personality on and off the track?"

Colin: "I would describe it as calculated aggressiveness. That's what a lot of people say, and I agree. In racing, I love to go for any gap that exists, but not so much that it puts everything in jeopardy. I like to take my chances but not go too far over the edge. As for race pace, I aim to be very, very consistent—just hitting my marks, staying on it, and getting up to speed quickly."

Pitlane-News: "What does it mean to you to compete in the Super Trofeo series, and what sets it apart from other racing experiences you've had?"

Colin: "GT racing is such a unique experience. I was very used to these nimble little single-seaters that I've raced with for the past four years. It takes a lot of maturity to drive something like this. The most unique challenge has been slowing down your mind. I mean, it's faster than any single-seater I've driven, but in the corners, it's a very heavy piece of machinery. It takes a nice balance of both aggressiveness and smoothness in all the inputs you make."

Pitlane-News: Weekend race results: Colin and his ANSA teammate Enzo Geraci finished 4th overall in the 50-minute Race #1 on Saturday. That was followed on Sunday morning by their best result of the season: a podium in the Pro class and 4th place overall. With 8 races left in the 2025 season, the #4 Lamborghini Super Trofeo of Colin and Enzo currently sits in 5th place in the Pro Driver Championship. We look forward to covering Colin further at round 4 when it takes place at the historic 4.048-mile circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on August 1–3, 2025. Godspeed Colin.
