The thrill of motorsport has been part of Jack Lane’s life for as long as he can remember, rooted in his father’s love of sportscars and motorbikes. Family weekends were often spent travelling the length of the country supporting his uncle in enduro motorbike races, an experience that fuelled Jack’s own passion for motocross at a young age — a discipline he competed in for several years. From bikes to rallying, hill climbs, and everything in between, motorsport became a constant presence, driven by the shared excitement of speed, sound, and an appreciation for engineering.
After working in a corporate sales role, Jack quickly realised it wasn’t where his passion lay. While he was quick in a kart, a future as the next F1 Champion was never the plan. Around this time, he picked up his first professional camera and immediately fell in love with photography as an art form. That moment proved pivotal — combining a lifelong passion for motorsport with a growing obsession for photography, Jack set his sights on becoming a professional motorsport photographer.

Most weekends soon found Jack and his father trackside at another event, camera in hand. Through countless mistakes and lessons learned one shutter click at a time, he became hooked. What began with static cars quickly evolved into photographing moving subjects, opening up a new learning curve that only deepened his enthusiasm. The following year marked a major milestone with his first accreditation at Hawkstone International MX — offering a glimpse of life on the other side of the fence and an unforgettable adrenaline rush..
Momentum continued to build with a second accreditation for the 2025 Hill Climb season at Shelsley Walsh and Loton Park. Hill Climb, often described as F1 up a country lane, became a natural fit for Jack’s evolving photographic style. With no large grids, dangerous overtakes, or pile-ups, the discipline allowed him to focus on composition, lighting, and capturing the sheer speed of the drivers. Time between runs also gave him the opportunity to work the paddock, where his experience in portrait photography enabled him to tell deeper stories and capture the raw emotion behind the sport.

Between hill climb events, Jack actively sought out other series including British GT, BTCC, the British Rally Championship, and British Superbikes. These championships brought bigger teams, larger crowds, and more demanding environments — but armed with the skills developed over the year, he felt confident, hungry to learn, and determined to keep improving.
That confidence ultimately pushed him to take the next step and pursue work with a professional media outlet. After following Pitlane News throughout the season, Jack saw it as the perfect platform for his development. Joining the team represents a significant milestone in his journey — one he is genuinely excited to embrace. Looking ahead to 2026, Jack sees it as the year he turns a lightbulb idea into reality, pursuing a long-held dream while contributing his work alongside the talented team that makes up Pitlane News.
