- Praga delivers chassis number 126: its first customer R1 to Indonesia
- Arrival of the Praga R1 into South East Asia grows Praga’s customer network to 14 countries
- Shakedown and track debut took place at Mandalika International Street Circuit on Lombok Island ahead of unveiling event in Jakarta
26th March 2024, Prague/Surrey: Praga has expanded its customer base to Indonesia with the first delivery of a Praga R1 race car, chassis number 126, to a private buyer in Jakarta.
Following a record year for sales and race results for Praga in 2023, the arrival of the Praga R1 into South East Asia grows the Czech brand’s customer base to 14 countries.
With over 10 years of racing history at prestigious tracks including Le Mans, Spa-Francorchamps, Yas Marina and Silverstone, the Praga R1 made its Asian track debut at Mandalika International Street Circuit on Lombok Island for a full shakedown in early March.
Mark Harrison, Sales and Marketing Director at Praga Cars, said; “This is an exciting moment for the Praga brand as it’s the first time one of our cars has been delivered to this part of the world. It highlights how our racing successes in Europe, UAE, USA and Australia are earning Praga global recognition and a positive global reputation. We’re also seeing more R1s purchased without the owner physically experiencing the car, which is testimony to the strong reputation the R1 is now generating across social media by owners’ and word-of-mouth.”
Following its track debut, the Praga R1 was invited to the Glamour Auto Boutique in Jakarta on 10th March, where it was unveiled at the Glamour Breakfast event alongside a static display of racing and performance cars.
Weighing just 643kg with 365bhp, the turbocharged Praga R1 single seater is the ideal entry point into downforce racing, allowing drivers at both amateur and professional level to cut their lap times and develop their aero driving skills, whether in sprint racing, endurance racing, or track days. The Praga R1’s bespoke carbon fibre chassis also allows the R1 driver to feel confident and secure in an environment designed to keep them safe.
“Beyond the R1’s eye-catching looks and blistering speeds, the beauty of owning an R1 is that you don’t need a race team to run it and it’s also affordable to maintain. While we’re sure our new customer will enjoy the exclusivity of being the only R1 owner in Indonesia, we hope to see more sales to South East Asia where there is a growing demand for top tier racing and driving experiences,” concludes Harrison.
