Preston Docks served up a properly gritty chapter of motocross action, dishing out a circuit that was as unforgiving as it was fast.
Set against the estuary, the sandy layout—already notorious for its relentless ruts—was sharpened further by a wet build-up to race day. Thankfully, the skies held, leaving riders to tackle a dry but brutally demanding surface that punished mistakes and rewarded precision.
All eyes were firmly locked on Jeffrey Herlings, making his much-anticipated debut for Honda after an extraordinary 17-year tenure with KTM. If there were any doubts about how quickly he’d adapt, they were buried deep in the sand within a matter of laps.

Herlings was in a class of his own, attacking the circuit with trademark aggression and surgical control to secure a commanding MX1 victory
The Dutchman’s ride was a masterclass in sand racing—fluid through the deepening ruts, fearless over the jumps, and relentless as the track deteriorated. Behind him, Conrad Mewse delivered a composed and determined performance to lock in second, holding off a charging Ben Watson, who completed the podium in third. Oriol Oliver and Adam Sterry rounded out the top five with consistent rides in punishing conditions.

But on this occasion, it also delivered a headline moment: Herlings’ emphatic Honda debut. If this performance is anything to go by, the season ahead just got very interesting.
