BTCC Race 1 Report – Ingram Dominates as Smiley Snatches Podium in Late Drama

Tom Ingram claimed a commanding lights-to-flag victory in the opening race of BTCC Round 13, fending off the competition at Oulton Park to take another win of the season. The EXCELR8 driver converted pole position into maximum points in a race full of drama, overtakes, and intra-team tensions.

Ingram Untroubled Out Front

From the moment the lights went out, Ingram looked in control. Despite early pressure and a safety car interruption, the 2022 champion managed his pace expertly to keep NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish at bay and cross the line comfortably in first place.

The safety car was deployed early following contact between Stephen Jelley and Sam Osborne as the pair tangled exiting Island Bend. Both drivers limped away, but their races were effectively over.

Cammish Claims Second as Smiley Fights Back

Dan Cammish made his way into second on the opening lap, slipping past front-row starter Chris Smiley at the first opportunity. Smiley, however, wasn’t done.

After running much of the race in fourth, the Restart Racing driver pulled off one of the moves of the day—darting around the outside of Ash Sutton at Cascades in the closing stages to steal back the final step on the podium.

It was a clean, bold move that earned Smiley third place and plenty of admiration from fans and commentators alike.

Sutton Settles for Strategy

Ash Sutton had appeared set for a third-place finish, but chose not to fight Smiley too hard, possibly with strategy in mind. By finishing fourth, Sutton ensured a favourable tyre allocation for Race 2, opting for the softer compound in a bid to strike back later in the day.

Proctor and Cook in the Mix, Teammates Tangle Again

Senna Proctor, Josh Cook, and James Dorlin rounded out the top ten in a closely contested midfield, with plenty of jostling for position throughout the pack.

Further down the order, team tensions flared once again between rookies Dexter Patterson and Max Hall. The pair made contact entering Hislops, resulting in their second collision of the season—and an early end to both of their races.

BTCC Race 2 Report – Sutton Strikes Again with Tactical Masterclass at Oulton Park

Soft Tyre Strategy Pays Off

Starting from fourth, Sutton was the first driver on the soft compound tyre—and it showed. He wasted no time slicing through the field, easing past Chris Smiley before being waved through by teammate Dan Cammish. The NAPA Racing UK squad were clearly playing the long game, and Sutton capitalised.

His main obstacle came in the form of Race 1 winner Tom Ingram, who put up a stout defence. But Sutton picked his moment with clinical precision, diving down the inside at Island Hairpin to snatch the lead and never look back.

Morgan and Chilton Climb the Order

As Sutton pulled clear, the Vertu Motors pairing of Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton were also on a charge. Both drivers managed to get the better of Ingram in the latter stages, with Morgan securing a strong second-place finish and Chilton backing him up in third.

Ingram, running the hard compound tyre, managed to hold on to fourth in damage limitation mode, fending off pressure from Jake Hill in the closing laps.

Midfield Battles and Bodywork Woes

2024 champion Jake Hill pushed hard to find a way past Ingram but ultimately had to settle for fifth, just ahead of Daniel Rowbottom and Josh Cook.

Senna Proctor, who had been in the thick of the fight, slipped back to eighth place as bodywork appeared to be rubbing against his front-left tyre, compromising his pace.

Gordon Shedden and Dan Cammish rounded out the top ten, ensuring both NAPA Racing entries were inside the points once again.

Reverse Grid Draw Adds Extra Twist

At the end of the race, all eyes turned to retiring broadcasting legend Steve Rider, who performed the reverse grid draw—and it was Shedden’s name that emerged, promoting him to pole position for the final race of the day.

BTCC Race 3 Report – Shedden Shines at Oulton with First Win Since 2022

Gordon Shedden rolled back the years with a sensational lights-to-flag victory in Race 3 at Oulton Park, claiming his first BTCC win since 2022 and becoming the tenth different race winner in just 15 races of the 2025 season. The victory for Toyota Gazoo Racing capped off the first half of the campaign in dramatic fashion.

Flash Back on Top

Starting from pole following the reverse grid draw, "Flash" Shedden made no mistake off the line and never looked back. The three-time champion was under intense pressure for the majority of the race from 2024 title holder Jake Hill, but held his nerve superbly.

Hill remained glued to the back of Shedden’s Toyota for most of the race, with the NAPA Racing UK pair of Dan Rowbottom and Ash Sutton also keeping close tabs behind.

Hill’s Late Lunge Backfires

The pressure from Hill intensified in the final laps, as he looked for a way past Shedden. However, a last-ditch attempt to mount a move through Cascades saw him overcook it slightly and run wide onto the grass. He rejoined further down in seventh, his chance at victory lost.

Sutton and Rowbottom Make It a NAPA Double Podium

With Hill falling away, Ash Sutton capitalised to take second, adding yet more valuable points to his title campaign. Dan Rowbottom followed closely behind to secure third, giving NAPA Racing UK another strong double podium finish for the weekend.

Ingram Storms Through the Field

Tom Ingram delivered one of the standout drives of the race, surging from outside the top ten to claim a hard-fought fourth place. The EXCELR8 driver made a series of decisive overtakes in the second half of the race and continues to show championship-winning consistency.

Drama Further Back – Doble Spins Out, Chilton's Wild Ride Ends Early

There was further drama in the midfield as Tom Chilton and Mikey Doble came together on the entry to Hislops. Doble was sent spinning off the circuit, while Chilton continued momentarily—albeit with his bonnet flapping up over the windscreen, drastically limiting his visibility. He was forced to retire shortly after, bringing his race to a premature end.
