Aprilia's dream weekend at the British Grand Prix- Silverstone.

Friday's sessions showed a good variety of riders and manufacturers in the mix, with strong hints from the Italian bikes of Aprilia and Ducati.

It was Alex Marquez who topped the sheets on Friday morning, followed by Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta. Friday afternoon had Marco Bezzecchi bringing his factory Aprilia to the top, with a 01:56:280 and an all time lap record (just under a second faster than Fabio Quatararo's 2025 Pole lap of 01:57.233), followed by Raul Fernandez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

The other riders to go straight through to Q2 were; J Martin, A Ogura, M Marquez, A Marquez, J Mir, J Miller and P Acosta.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was fastest on Saturday mornings FP2 session, with Raul Fernandez close behind and Marco Bezzecchi rounding out the top three. The first Qualifying session of the day saw Franco Morbidelli and Iker Lecuona squeeze their way into the following Q2 session, with last years pole man and the 2021 British GP winner Fabio Quartararo missing out by just 0.050 seconds.

Q2 was incredibly competitive, led by the Aprilia's the top 9 were all within 0.800 seconds of each other, and it was Jorge Martin who took pole and the factory Aprilia team that achieved another lap record, a 01:56:160, with the Trackhouse duo of Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura rounding of the front row in P2 and P3 and the rest of the championship contenders (F Di Giannantonio, M Bezzecchi and M Marquez) sat on the second row of the grid.

Tissot Sprint Race

The Tissot Sprint race on Saturday afternoon followed the same pattern as the previous sessions, Jorge Martin led the race from pole, with Fernandez dropping back through the pack as Bezzecchi, Marquez and Di Giannantonio fight for precious championship points. The first crash of the sprint comes from the home hero Cal Crutchlow at turn 4, followed by Lecuona at Vale. At the start of Lap 2, the No.49 Ducati makes a move on Ogura but is swiftly blocked by the Trackhouse rider, who manages to escape down towards Brooklands. As the race progresses, Fernandez has a lowside through the loop trying to chase down Bezzecchi, a frustrating way to end a race after a far from ideal opening few corners. By the second half of the race, Bezzecchi manages to catch up to Di Giannantonio, and secures the bronze medal through the inside of Copse. Jorge Martin manages to put his pole to good use, securing the victory and extending his championship lead even further, as Ai Ogura brings the trackhouse bike across the line in P2, followed by Bezzecchi in P3.

Qatar Airways British GP

Off the start, Raul Fernandez surges forward and beats the pole position man to turn one, going up the inside and taking p1, aiming to avenge his result in the sprint race whilst Ogura and Martin both have their ride height devices stuck, causing a huge burst of sparks to be unleashed, and allowing Bezzecchi to make a wild move round the outside of turn two. As the riders approach turn four, the no.89 and 79 fend each other off as Marc Marquez makes a bold run up the inside to overtake them both. Further down the pack, Joan Mir crashes out on the opening lap.

At the start on lap two, Brad Binder manages to maneuver his KTM round the outside of Jack Miller as the old teammates go round the loop, only for the Australian to send it up the inside and boldly take back the position. Near the end of the lap, Ogura, Acosta and Alex Marquez start a fierce battle for 5th place with Acosta coming out on top.

As the race progresses, Raul Fernandez only increases his lead over the two factory Aprilia riders, who battle for second, and for world championship points.
At the half way point of the race, Ai Ogura crashes out in Vale as he attempts to catch the rest of the leading Aprilia's, costing him very precious championship points.

With a few laps left, the gap between riders only grows, with Fernandez having over 4 seconds to Jorge Martin in P2.
And over the line, it is the No.25 of Raul Fernandez who brings his Trackhouse Aprilia to victory for the second time of his career and first in the 2026 season. From Lap 1 to Lap 20, he stays in P1 and finishes with a 2.5 second gap to P2, where Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi bring home the podium positions.
